WHAT REAL ESTATE AGENTS NEED TO KNOW ABOUT FIRPTA
The first in The Fund’s 4-part series dedicated to bringing the best in education to Florida’s real estate agent community.
As Floridians, we all know the reasons why it’s great to live in Florida – the weather, the beaches, the attractions. Florida has and will continue to have a special appeal to foreign buyers, not just as a great vacation destination but also as an investment strategy. However, this investment strategy will create concerns when the foreign buyer turns into a foreign seller. Foreign sellers are subject to special federal tax regulations and withholding requirements under FIRPTA. This 1-hour program is designed to familiarize the real estate agent with the basics of FIRPTA, when it applies, and the more common exceptions to the rules.
